Archery Instructors Course, 13 June 2015, hosted by Wendouree Archery Club.
Archery Instructors Course on the 13 June 2015, available for the face to face components of the course. 13 June 2015 has been locked in at Wendouree Archery Club in Ballarat. Wendouree have a number of people requiring training but there are additional places available for others to join in.
Could you please have a look at what your coaching needs within your club currently are and identify those you wish to have trained. I will take nominations from clubs (rather than individuals) at this stage as we need to make sure that any new coaches are being utilised within the clubs and will be able to be mentored by their Club Coaches and others. I can’t guarantee that all those nominated will be able to be accommodated but I will do my best. Those nominated must be members of Archery Victoria and Archery Australia.
For your info:
The Archery Instruction Course has a number of components and those attending will need to complete all the components to receive accreditation.
1. They must complete an online Community Coaching General Principles Course sponsored by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC). The course should take about 2 hours. It is not archery specific. It will need to be completed prior to commencement of the face to face component of the course.
2. The candidate coach must attend the face-to-face, archery specific training component – the one day component mentioned above. They must remain for the entire day and actively participate in the learning. The starting time will probably be 9am and may not finish until after 5pm.
3. Following the face-to-face component an exam will need to be completed. The exam is an extension of the learning. It does not ‘examine’ what has been learnt on the day but rather, it allows candidates to go into more depth in their own time and learning space. The exam is open book and has a 90% pass mark. It will take between 2 and 6 hours, depending on learning style (and how many cups of coffee are consumed). There will be two weeks to complete this exam following the face to face component.
4. Candidates will also need to complete a practical component. This component requires 5 hours of practical application of the skills they have learnt. 2 hours of these 5 must be under the supervision of a qualified Archery Instructor (preferably with 2 years’ experience) or a Club Coach or a Regional Coach. The supervising coach must sign off on the hours.
5. Paperwork needs to be completed including the signing of a Code of Ethics. The paperwork will mainly be completed during the face-to-face component. If a candidate is under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian may need to sign some of the paperwork.
6. Candidates must have or must apply for a Working With Children Check prior to the paperwork being submitted for accreditation. If a candidate is a teacher or a police officer, a copy of their current teacher registration or police identification will suffice. If they are under the age of 18 they do not need a Wording With Children Check.
Allocation to positions on these courses will be subject to endorsement by the club. If you have candidates you would like to put forward please provide me with the following details by cob 12 May 2015:
